Community solar (CS) is a government incentivized program designed to give you the power to support clean energy and save money on your electricity costs—right from the comfort of your home, no panel installations required. When you sign up for a Community Solar subscription, you’re signing up to support a local solar farm. In return, you receive solar credits from the farm that lower the cost of your utility bills. Not to mention when you sign up through our Friends and Family Program, you’ll get a $150 bonus AND BlueWave will make a $150 donation in your name to one of the following organizations of your choosing: Color of Change, the Easthampton Community Center, or the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.
How Does it Work?
First, BlueWave, or one of our partners, develops a community solar farm in your area. In this case, the solar farm is located at 232 Park Street in Easthampton, MA. This project will offset 2,717 metric tons of CO2 each year. That is the equivalent of 587 passenger cars off the road each year. You can then sign up to be a CS subscriber to that project, receiving the bonuses mentioned above when you do so. Your subscription generates credits which show up as reductions on your utility bill. We (BlueWave) bill you at a 10% discount for the credits your subscription generated, in turn saving you money on your electric bill while support solar energy!
