South Hadley Public LIbrary

By Meg Clancy, Youth Services Librarian April 30, 2019

Nestled beside the banks of the Connecticut River is the South Hadley Public Library.  The town was fortunate enough to move into a beautiful new facility in the summer of 2014.  People love not only the library, but the breath taking view of the dam at any time of year people can enjoy flora and fauna as well as watch the water overflowing the dam spillway.  Every season has something special to see.

Inside, the library offers a multitude of services for our patrons. Young and old alike are able to borrow materials ranging from traditional books and magazines to DVD’s and CD’s as well as audio books, e-books, kits and more.

Programming for children, teens and adults abound.  Every day there is something to do.  A sampling of programs include book discussions, concerts, speakers, coloring time, homework help, reading therapy dogs, chess club, chemistry kits, Xbox, and even “after hours” programs for teens when the library is closed.

Every Monday and Thursday morning we offer Toddler Time at 10:30AM.  Children enjoy a story time followed by a craft appropriate for preschool/toddler age children.  Tuesdays at 10:30AM is Rhyme Time.   This parent and child interactive song time is an engaging activity for infants to toddlers.  Wednesday mornings at 10:30AM is a parent and child playgroup brought to the library by the Collaborative for Educational Services.  This fun filled learning experience is especially for families with infants through 5 years old.
